Re: Two devices detected by Linux Server
MSA 2060 Controller issue
Hello everyone,
I am new to the SAN devices. Recently I have a request to update some configurations on my two MSA 2060 boxes like the notification emails, SMTP server etc. I have done one of the two MSA2060. (SAN-A).
But whenever I tried to access to the other MSA2060, the box (SAN-B) with the Web access was failed and it keeps looping on the login page. Some how after a certain time, I can manage to get into the page but when I access to the Notification page to update the SMTP server etc, once I click Set. It will keep looping as well. I later found out that there is an SSH session I can get into it. I changed all the request information successfully. I can also "TEST" by sending email.
So, in this case, it looks like the WebUI for the SAN-B is not functioning properly. Can I do the CLI - restart mc to make this WebUI back to function?
Cheers,
Timothy

thanks for the replay. I created 2 DGs (1 DG for each Controller)

Re: MSA2060 optimal Configuration of Diskgroups
@ruahr
Sounds good, there are definitely some good reasons to create 2 disk-groups, 1 for each pool.
- Separation of workloads
- Possible increased performance due to the additional controller being used (unlikely in the configuration described as the spindle count will be the performance limiter)
- Logical/Physical separation of volumes
...
There are numerous reasons to configure differently which are hard to explore all in forum note.
Re: MSA 2060 Controller issue
Hi,
yes, restart MC will reboot the Management Part of the Controller, without disrupting the Storage IO.
(SC, is for the Storage Controller)
However, these settings are only done on one of the two Controllers and replicated internally to the other.
So, there is no need to set it on both Controllers.

HPE 3PAR 2 x 8440 in Remote Copy;
Hi,
HPE Team, a customer here on the channel has two 3PAR 8440... Both storages with FC, SSD and NL disks... However, the storage capacity is not the same! The customer asks me to configure Remote Copy for active/active with peer persistence... My question is, can storage 1 with SSD volume be replicated to storage 2 in FC or NL? Is it supported to replicate between different disk technologies?
Regards,
Carlos Oliveira.

Connect HPE servers to MSA 2060 with a 25GB link
Hello everyone,
Please, to connect HPE servers with the "Broadcom BCM57414 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE" card to an MSA 2060 iscsi 10Gb bay, which DAC cable could be used without going through a switch?
MSA 2040 - Delete Virtual Disk Group (Stauts QTOF)
Hi,
we have a MSA 2040 for which we no longer have a current support contract.
Right now, there are two Volumes configured (Volume A, which contains 5 virtual Disk Groups and Volume B, which contains 4 virtual Disk Groups).
Due to a failure of the air conditioning systems we had some hard disk errors and one of the diks groups in Volume B is in the state Fault (QTOF).
As we don't had important data on this volume, we performed a "Clear Metadata" on the crashed disks and they are recognized correctly again.
Now i would like to recreate the Disk groups, but when i want to delete the Fault one i got the error Message "Unable to remove the disk group. The operation failed because the disk group is quarantined". When i try to manually dequaratine the disk-group or vdisk, i got the error Message "The requested operation cannot be completed because the target disk group is an internal component".
The only answer i could fine so far is to contact the HPE support for some hidden commands in that case (which is not longer possible, as i dont have a valid support contract).
Any Ideas?
Disque failed RAID 5 MSA 1050
Bonjour,
Cordialement.
Re: Disque failed RAID 5 MSA 1050
The Quest for RAID Reconstruction:
Disk Replacement and RAID 5:
Replacing a failed disk in a RAID 5 configuration should indeed trigger a reconstruction job.
However, it seems your new disk isn’t joining the party. Perhaps it’s shy or lost in the digital forest.
Firmware Update (VE270P008):
You’ve wielded the firmware update spell (VE270P008), hoping it would awaken the RAID reconstruction magic.
Alas, the disk remains in AVAIL, like a wandering spirit.
Disk Compatibility and Revisions:
The disk you replaced (EG00120JXLWA) has a different revision (HPD8) than the original (HPD2).
This mismatch might indeed be causing the hiccup. RAID controllers can be picky about their companions.
The Compatibility Spell:
Here’s what you can try:
Compatibility Check: Ensure the new disk (HPD8) is compatible with your RAID controller and the existing disks.
Manual Addition: If compatibility checks pass, manually add the disk to the disk group. Sometimes, a gentle nudge works wonders.
Re: Disque failed RAID 5 MSA 1050
