Re: MSA 2060 notifications customization

@DerAdler
The MSA 2060 (6th gen) offers 2 different notification mechanisms.   One which follows the Event Log and the other which follows the system Alerts.

The Event Log mechanism is what has been the standard process for MSAs prior to this generation.  In the CLI you are able to set the severity of the issues that you receive.
CLI>  set email-parameters
CLI> set syslog-parameters
Both of these have an option of 'notification-level' which will allow you to limit the notifications based on severity, typically it is recommended to limit to WARNING and above.  The SNMP notifications assumes that the notifications are going into an SNMP server which will allow you to filter so does not allow limiting on severity.
You can also enable or disable the 'persistent-alerts'.  This is recommended to be enabled as it helps limit missed events and provides an 'All clear' weekly message as a option to note that the notification mechanism is still working.

The Alerts mechanism is new for MSA 6th Gen and provides notifications on ALL actionable system states/changes of state.  This is a lot less 'chatty' without missing the INFORMATIONAL changes.  Alerts are 'All' or 'None'.  Receiving all Alerts allows provides the little issues, like a host port being disconnected, as well as the big issues of a hardware fault.

HPE believes that the Alerting notifications are a better process as you only get notification on actionable items.  You can view the Alerts the system would send in the Dashboard page of the Storage Management Utility (Web UI).  Alerts shown in the WebUI display end to end information - opened -> resolved   and allow acknowledging known conditions which need no further review. ex. the host port disconnected notification above is the correct state.
