Dear,
I have the chance to get few hp MSA 2000 G2 with 12 bays for little money. They are 2U, 12 x 3.5" bays, redundant power, redundant controller.
Would it be possible to "downsize" them and use for Linux-based NAS? My goal would be 12 * 8TB or 12 * 10TB SATA, single power, low-power motherboard, internal SSD for caching mainly used for Linux ISOs (I have many versions of old Slackware, RedHat, DLD etc. ISOs)...
I will get the "full" working (just un-racked) devices, including disk sleds, memory, CPU. Apparently these sleds are "active" and have FC to SAS or SATA converters - which may be a showstopper...?
Thanks.
