Re: Built in encryption of the 2050 with Advanced Data Services license option.

Technically the MSA 2052 could support SEDs, they are not supported as standard with the MSA 2052 because the included SSDs do not support encryption today. May be in future we will support it as well.

Please find the answers,

1. If an Advanced Data Services license is added to the 2050, is the encryption functionality retained?

>>> Yes encryption option not related to Advanced Data Services Suite License so it will be retained.  Advanced Data Services Suite includes the following functionality:
• Performance Tiering and Archive Tiering
• 512 Snapshots and Volume Copy
• Remote Snaps

2. Besides encryption, is there any functional or performance difference between a 2050 with Advanced Data Services and a 2052?

>>> Yes performance difference is there because with MSA2052 you will get Advanced Data Services Suite License bydefault and 2 x 800GB SSDs. These SSDs you can use as read cache or as performance tier which will enhance performance.

3. Is the encryption of the 2050 assisted by a dedicated processor or is it purely software?

>>> No processor, its purely software based

Hope this helps!
